Instructor: Peter Wright, PhD, is an executive consultant, specializing in public service leadership and governance across California. His current work focuses on local government at the county level, chambers of commerce, and school boards.
Previous engagements included efforts at the collegiate administrative level on emergency management and has served in leadership positions for both non-profit organizations and governmental agencies.
Dr. Wright taught courses in leadership, public policy, and program evaluation at the University of San Francisco; University of California, Santa Barbara; Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo; and Santa Barbara City College. Dr. Wright’s academic work and interests center on civic engagement and bureaucratic responsiveness, as well as education policy and politics. He is currently conducting research on the policy impact of interest groups through local school board politics.
At the community level, Dr. Wright serves as the Board President for College Elementary School District in Santa Ynez, CA and is a member of the California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly. While serving on the board, College Elementary School District has received statewide recognition for distinguished academic achievement, behavior intervention programs, and his favorite award – a school of kindness.
Dr. Wright received his Bachelor of Arts degree in politics from Occidental College in Los Angeles and is a former President of the Alumni Association and Trustee of the College. He received a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Southern California and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
